Student Behaviour Code

"THIS CODE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE GUIDELINES FOR APPROPRIATE STUDENT CONDUCT"

Queen Elizabeth II Public School is a special learning community where we must all co-operate to ensure that the rights of all individuals are maintained.  All students can expect to learn in an environment free from interruption and disturbance.  To this end, we will take the responsibility of teaching our students our specific expectations for behaviour that will ensure the opportunity for all to gain from the academic, social and athletic experiences that our school has to offer.

Our parents, our community, and our school board have worked together to provide our students with a staff, building, and resources to help prepare them for a successful future.  We are committed to offering the best education we can and we expect students to take special pride in keeping our school first class.  Our students will be expected to assume the responsibilities as listed.

Dress Code

What students wear to school should be appropriate, comfortable, clean, neat, and conducive to a learning environment.  The following provides further clarifications:

Shorts and slacks:

- must be neat, and without large holes that reveal skin or undergarments

- the shorts must be of modest length.

 - short skirts should be combined with shorts.

 Hats:

- may not be worn inside the school (except on special days).

 Tops must not:

- have inappropriate sayings or illustrations (no reference to drugs, alcohol, sexism, racism, or vulgarity)

- expose a bare midriff

- have spaghetti straps

- be a tube top; be a muscle shirt; be mesh tops

- be considered inappropriate for any other reason

 Footwear:

- students must have separate footwear for indoor and outdoor use; gym shoes or other clean shoes may be worn in the hall and classroom

This practice keeps our hall and classroom floors dust-free and dry.  Students should always be wearing shoes as there will not be time taken to put on footwear during an emergency.

Appropriate clothing will be determined at the discretion of the Principal or Vice-Principal.
